5. D modeling: pentahedra and friction#

5.1. Characteristics of the mesh#

The mesh is identical to that of modeling B.

5.2. Features tested#

The integration diagram reduced to 4 Gauss points per contact facet is used.

Friction is taken into account and the contact is active from the 1st iteration of active stresses.

The algorithm for restricting the space of Lagrange multipliers is No. 2.

5.3. Tested sizes and results#

The contact pressure value is tested at point \(P\) with coordinates \((\mathrm{0,}\mathrm{10,}17.5)\).

5.4. Comments#

This modeling shows that the version 2 algorithm makes it possible to effectively reduce oscillations. We observe that the version 2 algorithm tends to introduce piecewise \(\mathit{P1}\) approximations of contact pressures on the interface, which makes it more accurate than version 1 (see also [Figure 7.2-1] and [Figure 7.2-2]).
