19. Summary of results#
On this very simple example (known under the name of patch-test), we are trying to test a new technique for integrating contact terms based on subdivision by sub-elements available only for the formulation “CONTINUE”. The objective of this technique is to attenuate the amplitude of oscillation of the contact pressure. In the case studied here, the pressure is constant over the entire contact surface (note that the Poisson’s ratio is zero).
It is thus observed that with the discrete formulations” CONTRAINTE “and” PENALISATION “the solution has non-physical oscillations of the order of 6 to 7%. By using the “CONTINUE” method, with a suitable integration diagram, the oscillations disappear almost completely and the results obtained are very close to the reference solution (< 0.5%).
