5. Summary of results

The first non-contact calculation makes it possible to validate the multi-crack approach with X-FEM junctions by comparing stress intensity factors to a semi-analytical reference solution (which does not take into account the forces on the crack lips). However, interpenetrations are noted, although the structure is mainly stressed in traction. The correction made by the second calculation, taking into account the contact, shows that the new values obtained for the stress intensity factors can lead to slight deviations in the directions of propagation [2].
