v6.03.501 SSNP501 - Crush of a polyurethane ring between two non-deformable plates without friction#

Summary:

The test consists in simulating the crushing under plane stresses of a circular elastic polyurethane ring by two symmetric, non-deformable plates. The objective is to test the functionalities related to contact. This test involves gluing over a contact zone of considerable length with the presence of large elastic deformations.

A symmetric imposed displacement is applied to the two plates; the resultant force as well as the contact pressure for various points in contact are compared with the results obtained in the reference article.

In the four proposed models, the ring is modeled with QUAD4en plane constrained cells:

  • modeling A, a knot-to-mesh contact (DEFI_CONTACT) without friction treated with the active stress method has been defined between the plate and the ring,

  • modeling B, a knot-to-mesh contact (DEFI_CONTACT) without friction treated with the penalized method has been defined between the plate and the ring,

  • modeling C, a knot-to-mesh contact (DEFI_CONTACT) without friction treated with the continuous method has been defined between the plate and the ring,

  • modeling D, a knot-to-mesh contact (DEFI_CONTACT) without friction treated with the GCP method has been defined between the plate and the ring.
