v3.02.321 SSLP321 - Propagation of an X- FEM crack in a 3-point flexure plate#

Summary

The purpose of this test is to validate the crack propagation path with \(\text{X-FEM}\) in \(\mathrm{2D}\), in the context of linear elasticity.

This test involves a rectangular plate with an through crack, and subjected to 3-point bending as in the article by Mariani and Perego [1].

Five methods for managing the propagation of a \(\text{X-FEM}\) crack are available. Each of them is the subject of modeling.

  • modeling \(A\): mesh method

  • modeling \(B\): simplex method

  • modeling \(C\): upwind method

  • modeling \(D\): geometric method

Comparisons are made with the values given by the mesh method.
