v2.01.022 SDLD22 - Transient of a mass-spring system with 8 degrees of freedom with viscous damper#

Summary:

The mechanical structure in question is composed of a linear unidirectional set of spring weights with viscous dampers and subjected to a transient crenel-type excitation.

Two models are developed. The first only considers the degree of freedom in axial translation of the masses, the second considers axial translation and rotation.

This problem makes it possible to test:

  • the discrete elements (masses, springs, shock absorbers) in translation-rotation,

  • the definition of a transient point excitation force,

  • the calculation of the transient response by modal recombination as well as the resumption with initial conditions (modeling A),

  • direct transient response calculation with the adaptive time step diagram (B and C models).

The results obtained (field of movement, speeds) are in good agreement with the results of guide VPCS, taken as a reference solution.
