1. Reference problem#
1.1. Geometry, Materials, and Boundary Conditions#
It is a structure with simple geometry, of the thin cylinder type, filled to the brim and subjected to a defined seismic excitation with stress spectra.
geometric parameters of the cylinder:
radius*R = 7 m,
height*H = 21 m,
thickness of the sheet*e = 15 mm,
material parameters:
Young’s modulus of the structure (steel)*E = 1.95·1011 Pa,
Poisson’s ratio*ν = 0.3,
density of the structure*rodri = 7850 kg/m3,
density of liquid (water)*rodriL = 1000 kg/m3,
depreciation*c = 4%,
boundary conditions:
base of the cylinder (lower surface) blocked according to the three degrees of freedom (DDL) of translation,
zero pressure at the level of the free surface of the fluid.

1.2. Seismic excitation#
The seismic load is given by a ground spectrum in the two horizontal directions (X and Y) and in the vertical direction (Z).
