10. Summary of results#

The results obtained are good. However, there is a larger gap between the reference and the 3D results. It is possible to fill it by refining the mesh even more, but you have to pay for it in memory and in calculation time.

The size of the elements is very important. If they are too big, we can see appear on the reaction curve as a function of the movement of the « waves » (loss of linearity of this curve). Each « wave » corresponds to the bringing of an element into contact. Moreover, if the mesh is not sufficiently refined, the reaction given by*Aster* differs significantly from the reference one.

Modeling only the sphere by its contact surface, which is rigidified by kinematic conditions, saves time.
