2. Modeling A#

2.1. Characteristics of modeling#

This modeling illustrates the methodology for tightening a stud. The aim is to impose a relative displacement between the nodes of the nut and the stud and to calculate the resulting force. The calculation is carried out by modifying the value of DEPL_R until the resulting effort corresponds to the required effort.

2.2. Tested sizes and results#

The realignment achieved is considered satisfactory when DEPL_R is \(8.0E-3\mathit{mm}\). This value makes it possible to pre-tension the stud with an average stress of \(30\mathit{MPa}\) in the stud shaft.

The resulting effort is compared to the effort sought.

Non-regression tests with a tolerance of \(1.0E-6\) are carried out on the resulting efforts of the following faces:

  • face of the nut in contact with the stud,

  • face of the stud in contact with the nut,

  • face of the underside of the stud,

  • face of the joint in contact with the flange,

  • face of the flange in contact with the joint.

Note: the resulting force calculated on each face is the same.
