3.4. notes#
The stress is called dominant flexure. Through this calculation, we show the difficulty for the QUAD4 even sub-integrated to represent the modes of deformation in flexure in plane deformation and for a coefficient \(\nu\) close to 0.5. This results in an excessive stiffness of the element due to the shear terms of the discretized gradient operator: this is a numerical block.
