Summary:

This test, in the field of fluid-structure interaction, validates the calculation of added stiffness on a circular cylinder excited on its first mode of ball-and-swivel flexure and subjected to annular flows of various speeds.

The added stiffness (a function of the speed) is calculated on the first mode of flexure of the cylinder. The decrease in the natural frequency of the mode is checked, up to the value zero for a critical fluid flow speed.
