v8.01.100 FDLV100 - Piston coupled to an incompressible fluid column#

Summary:

This test in the field of fluids (fluid-structure coupling) validates the calculation of added mass on a modal basis and performs, as part of a modal analysis, the calculation of the natural frequency of a piston-spring system coupled to a column of incompressible fluid. To model the fluid, plane thermal elements are used; to model the piston, 2D mechanical elements in plane deformation and a discrete element are used to model a spring. Finally, the fluid/structure interface is modelled by thermal linear elements modified to introduce an « acceleration » type boundary condition into the fluid. The test case includes only one model, two-dimensional. The natural frequency of the coupled system is found to be 0.01% of the analytical result.
