1. Reference problem#

1.1. Geometry and meshing#

We study a slope made up of homogeneous material with a height of 4.5m with the rate of the slope equal to 1:2. The model is 18m wide and 6.5m high.

The geometry and mesh of the slope are shown in fig1-geom-ssnp006.

1.2. Material properties#

Identical to the Plaxis2D test case, the properties of the material are as follows:

  • Unit mass of soil: \({\gamma }_{\mathit{sol}}=16\mathit{kN}\)

  • Ground friction angle: \(\varphi =20\mathit{deg}\)

  • Soil cohesion: \(c=5\mathit{kN}/{m}^{2}\)

Stability is analyzed with the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion.

1.3. Boundary conditions and loads#

Stability under the effect of gravity alone is analyzed.

The following mechanical loads are therefore applied to the model:

  • Gravity with \(g=\mathrm{9,81}m/{s}^{2}\)
