1. Reference problem#

1.1. Geometry#

Consider a cylinder with an average radius \(5m\), a thickness \(t\mathrm{=}0.25m\) and a length \(L\mathrm{=}10m\). The geometric dimensions chosen allow the free edge effects to be overlooked in \(y\mathrm{=}\mathrm{\pm }L\mathrm{/}2\) (in axisymmetric, \(L\) must check: \(\frac{1}{2}L>3\sqrt{\text{Rt}}\mathrm{=}3m\)).

1.2. Material properties#

Isotropic elastic material is characterized by the following properties:

  • \(E=1\mathit{Pa}\)

  • \(\nu =0.3\)

1.3. Boundary conditions and loads#

The vertical cylinder is subjected to a constant internal pressure \(p=1\mathit{Pa}\) on part \(y\le 0\), and zero on \(y>0\). A vertical displacement \({u}_{y}=0\) is imposed at point \(A\).
