2. Benchmark solution

The result of the macro command POST_NEWMARK is compared to other methods of estimating the safety factor, based on the Potgieter results [1]:

• Slice method using the SLOPE /W software

**Enhanced Limit Equilibrium* by SIGMA /W and SLOPE /W software

• C-phi reduction by the PLAXIS 2D software.

The approach used by the POST_NEWMARK macro command is similar to the Enhanced Limit Equilibrium method and the results should be as close as possible to this method.

The reference values obtained by Potgieter [1] for these three methods are as follows:

• Slice method: FS = 1.73

**Enhanced Limit Equilibrium*: FS = 1.82

• c-phi reduction: FS = 1.72
