1. Reference problem#

1.1. Geometry#

We consider a rectangular plate of height \(H\mathrm{=}2m\), width \(W\mathrm{=}1m\), in plane deformation, with an emerging horizontal crack of depth \(a\mathrm{=}\mathrm{0,1}m\).

1.2. Material properties#

We consider a homogeneous isotropic elastic linear material whose characteristics are the following:

  • Young’s module \(E=210000\mathit{MPa}\)

  • Poisson’s ratio \(\nu =\mathrm{0,3}\)

1.3. Boundary conditions and loads#

The plate is in tension (\(\sigma \mathrm{=}10\mathit{MPa}\)).
