v2.03.505 SDLS505 - Buckling of a cylindrical shell under external pressure#

Summary:

This test represents a calculation of the stability of a thin cylindrical envelope plugged at its ends subjected to external pressure and to axial pressure. The critical loads leading to the elastic Euler buckling are calculated. The geometric rigidity matrix used in solving the eigenvalue problem is the one that is due to the initial constraints.

It makes it possible to validate finite element modeling:

  • COQUE_3D with TRIA7 and QUAD9 stitches.

  • DKT with TRIA3 and QUAD4 stitches.

The critical load and the eigenmode obtained are compared to an analytical reference solution.
