Summary:

This test represents a calculation in modal analysis of a sandwich beam that is simply supported. This test makes it possible to validate:

• finite element modeling of DKT plates with QUAD4 and TRIA3 meshes,

• finite element modeling of DST plates with QUAD4 and TRIA3 meshes,

• taking into account transverse shear stiffness,

• the consideration of composite material.

The frequencies and the modes obtained are compared to an analytical reference solution. It should be noted that modeling DKT, whose formulation does not take into account transverse shear, is not suitable for modeling this test case. Thus, errors are very important for A and B models. The results obtained with DST are satisfactory.
