This is a free dilation problem \((\alpha =1)\) of a \((1\times 1)\) square.

The displacement along \(Y\) of the point \(C\) is then identical to the imposed temperature.

It is thus possible to verify that the displacement curve is indeed a series of rise-fall cycles between temperatures 10 and 17.

We test:

  • At point \(C\): \(\mathrm{DY}(t=\mathrm{1.0s})=\mathrm{DY}(t=\mathrm{2.0s})=\mathrm{DY}(t=\mathrm{4.0s})=\mathrm{15.m}\)

  • At point \(C\): \(\mathrm{DY}(t=\mathrm{1.3s})=\mathrm{DY}(t=\mathrm{2.3s})=\mathrm{DY}(t=\mathrm{4.3s})=\mathrm{16.m}\)
