Law ENDO_SCALAIRE is part of a large family of damage laws (see for example [R5.03.18]). In particular, it aims to model fragile elastic behavior in a non-local version (GRAD_VARI [R5.04.01]) so that its behavior at least in one-dimensional cases is regular. The parameters of the law were chosen to ensure both the absence of a snap-back in the force-displacement response, as well as the finite elongation of the 1D bar at break. The local version of the law is not implemented. The modelled material is isotropic elastic. Its stiffness can decrease irreversibly when the deformation energy becomes significant, without distinguishing traction from compression. The width of the location bands is controlled by a material parameter, entered in the operator DEFI_MATERIAU under the keyword C_ GRAD_VARI of the keyword factor NON_LOCAL [U4.43.01].
PRED_ELAS [R5.03.80] control seems to be the most appropriate load level control mode.
