r4.10.02 Residual error estimator#
Summary
The residual error estimator makes it possible to estimate the discretization error due to the finite element method on the elements of a 2D or 3D mesh. It is an explicit error estimator involving the residuals of equilibrium equations and jumps in normal constraints at interfaces, unlike the Zhu‑Zienkiewicz estimator, which uses a posteriori stress smoothing technique [R4.10.01] and [bib5].
This estimator is implemented in*Code_Aster* in 2D and 3D elasto-plasticity.
