3. Translation of documentation#
The documentation is translated automatically using the Systran software.
A perpetual license for Systran Enterprise Server has been acquired. The software is installed on the server hosting various services of the software forge (claut681.der.edf.fr). It is version 7.3. A version 7.4 is expected, it should improve the rendering of the translation and correct some anomalies (not hampering the understanding of the English version).
Scripts, stored in a Mercurial database, ensure the translation of all documents every night. They are associated with scripts that allow the publication of documents. The different steps are as follows (encapsulated in*docaster_master.py*):
Extraction of all French documents in OpenOffice format;
Translating the documents: decompressing the odts, sending the content.xml file to the server, recompressing the odts with the translation (systran_translator.py);
Conversion of French and English documents to the PDF format;
Verification of keys and titles;
Posted on the site www.code-aster.org.
These steps are ensured for the development version (unstable) and the operating version (stable).
The documentation in English is accessible from the Documentation tab using the language switch. A warning is given regarding the non-commitment to the translation result (Warning: The translation process used on this website is a « Machine Translation ». It may be imprecise and difficult in whole or in part and is provided as a convenience). This warning appears on the document access page and is systematically included on each footer.
