**v7.32.124** WTNP124 — Liakopoulos test case: Drainage of a water column by the sole force of gravity

**Summary:**

This test case is the simulation of the Liakopoulos experiment of 1965, which represents the drainage of a column of sand saturated with water. The latter will then desaturate by the force of gravity alone. To represent this, consider a :math:`1m` high column subjected to atmospheric gas pressure at the top.

It is a purely hydraulic miscible calculation. The geometry shown corresponds to a vertical bar in vertical positioning. The transfer terms are described by a model by Mualem Van-Genuchten. The problem is treated by the various schemes available for modeling two-phase flows: classical finite elements and Decentralized Edge Finite Volumes.
