Synthesis ======== Comments: comparison on the Cam-Clay model ----------------------------------------------------- The comparison of the solutions given by the two codes in the preceding tables shows a relatively satisfactory convergence. Only the difference at point :math:`F` for :math:`P’\mathrm{=}\mathrm{101900 }\mathit{Pa}` seems high in relative terms (:math:`\text{+199\%}`), but is in fact an order of magnitude in absolute terms acceptable compared to the other points. To better understand the comparison between the various solutions obtained by *Code_Aster* and *FLAC*, Figure **3** shows the comparison of the loading paths at points :math:`O`, :math:`G` and :math:`F` in the :math:`(P’,Q)` plane, and in Figure **4** the comparison of the resultants of the forces on the foundation. In terms of the loading path in plane :math:`(P’,Q)` (FIG. **3**), if the solutions coincide quite well at point :math:`O`, they have differences relative to point :math:`F`, but more significant at point :math:`G`. These differences can be explained by the combination of two factors: *on the one hand, the two codes do not post-process the solutions in the same way:*Code_Aster*at the nodes and* FLAC * at the Gauss points [3] _ ; * on the other hand, points :math:`G` and :math:`F` are located around the end of the foundation, which is a fairly critical location since it is the border between the zones of compression (under the foundation) and expansion of the ground (outside the foundation). The stress gradients are high from one Gauss point to another, and it can thus be understood that an extrapolation to the nodes from the nearest Gauss points is only imperfectly representative of the real values at these Gauss points. In terms of the resultant of the forces (figure **4**), the solutions given by *Code_Aster* and *FLAC* coincide relatively well, but tend to deviate as the sinking of the foundation increases. .. image:: images/Object_7.svg :width: 469 :height: 333 .. _RefImage_Object_7.svg: **Figure 3**: comparison of the loading paths in plane :math:`(P’,Q)` at points :math:`O`, :math:`G` and :math:`F` given by *Code_Aster* and *FLAC* for modeling A. .. image:: images/Object_8.svg :width: 469 :height: 333 .. _RefImage_Object_8.svg: **Figure 4**: comparison of the results of the forces exerted on the foundationgiven by *Code_Aster* and *FLAC* for modeling A. [1] One could also retrieve Code_Aster solutions at Gauss points, but it is difficult to automate the intercomparison of the solutions obtained by the two codes in this case (TEST_RESU does not allow it).
