Summary
The aim is to calculate the response of a column subjected to any seismic loading. The column is modelled by an undamped mass-spring system, its connection with the ground by a non-linearity such as force-displacement.
We test the discrete element in traction-compression, the calculation of natural modes and the calculation of the transient response by modal recombination taking into account a non-linearity of the effort-displacement type. The initial speed is assumed to be non-zero and the load is of the type of acceleration imposed on the ground.
The results obtained are in very good agreement with the reference results, which are analytical results.
