.. _V4.61.103: **v4.61.103** MTLP103 - Hardening of a 16 MND5 cylindrical steel bar ======================================================================= **Summary:** This test case constitutes a validation of models of metallurgical transformations under cooling in steels. This is the hardening of a 16 MND5 cylindrical steel bar, for which experimental data for final hardness measurements are available. The calculation of the non-linear heat of the cooling phase is first performed on the basis of the identification of a heat exchange coefficient (when the bar is in the air), then of a surface flux density as a function of time on the external border (during tempering). These boundary conditions were identified through temperature measurements by thermocouples carried out during the test. The calculation of the metallurgical evolution is then carried out by post-processing the thermal calculation. The calculated final hardness values (depending on the proportions of phases formed) are compared with the measurements carried out at various points in the section of the bar. .. toctree:: :hidden: self .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 2 :numbered: Probl_me_de_r_f_rence Solution_de_r_f_rence Mod_lisation_A Synth_se_des_r_sultats
