1. Reference problem#

1.1. Geometry#

The field studied is a faceted volume, whose only interest is to be an assembly of different meshes. The starting point is a cube with side 100. The front side of this cube is the base of a pyramid; the contiguous side face is the base of a pentahedron. Between the pentahedron and the pyramid, we find a tetrahedron.

1.2. Material properties#

Material is defined with:

Young’s module \(=400000\)

Poisson’s Ratio \(=0.3\)

1.3. Boundary conditions and loads#

The upper face of the block is subjected to a pressure equal to 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively, for the upper face of the tetrahedron, the pyramid, the pentahedron and the hexahedron, respectively.

The outer triangular face of the pentahedron and the rear face of the hexahedron are embedded.

The other external faces are free. A zero normal stress value is deliberately imposed on it, to ensure correct calculation of the error indicators.
