3. Modeling A#
3.1. Characteristics of modeling#
The model is composed of 450 Timoshenko straight beam elements.
3.2. Characteristics of the mesh#
It consists of 450 POU_D_T elements.
3.3. Tested sizes and results#

3.4. Variation in mesh refinement#
Initially, the mesh for this test consisted of 30 meshes modelled in POU_C_T. With this refinement the results with the POU_D_T elements are very good except for \({V}_{y}(0°)\):
Type of effort |
Reference |
Deviation (%) |
\({V}_{y}(0°)\) |
0.0000 |
5.23 (absolute) |
\({V}_{y}(6°)\) |

1,3E-3 (relative) |
\(\mathit{MFZ}(42°)\) |
0.0000 |

With 450 stitches, we only get a difference of 0.34 on \({V}_{y}(0°)\).
