2. Benchmark solution

2.1. Calculation method used for the reference solution

The reference solution is the one given in the “Test16” sheet of the reference tests published by NAFEMS.

Sheet NAFEMS gives the reference results as well as the results of calculations performed using Kirchoff thin shell elements based on a quadratic isoparametric displacement formulation (degree of freedom of rotation and translation normal to the plate).
