The experimental measurements carried out on the device of Hotta et al. constitute the reference values for the validation of the model. The vibratory characteristics studied are those of the first vibrating mode following the largest side of the enclosure.

The two graphs below represent the changes in frequency and reduced damping as a function of the average flow speed, for the first mode of flexure of the beam deforming along the longest side of the chamber. The modes of flexure of the beam are dual modes in air; the asymmetry of the fluid-structure coupling separates them under flow and orients them along the sides of the chamber. These graphs allow the comparison of the results of the model with the experimental measurements.

Given the uncertainties in the measurements, the relative deviation tolerance for model validation is quite broad. This is why experimental measurements cannot be used as reference values for the test case, as a tighter tolerance is required to ensure that the code does not regress. The reference values used are therefore those obtained numerically during the retrieval of the test case.
