ma: mesh to be used for grid definition
The mesh ma must be regular, such that all its nodes are aligned in the directions of a local base. This imposes restrictions on the type and shape of the elements that can be used to define the ma mesh: you can only use QUAD4 elements with square or rectangular shapes in 2D and HEXA8 elements with cubic or elongated shapes in 3D.
No restriction on the shape of the domain defined by the ma mesh is imposed, i.e. the domain must not necessarily be a square or a rectangle in 2D and a cube or a parallelepiped in 3D. However, all the elements must be connected together and the domain cannot be formed by several parts that are not connected.
The local grid base according to which the nodes are aligned is automatically calculated.
