**u2.04.03** Choice of elasto- (visco) -plastic behavior

**Summary**

The objective of this note is to give advice to a user wishing to perform calculations with non-linear behaviors such as elasto-plastic or elasto-visco-plastic in order to choose a law adapted to the models envisaged. The materials concerned are mainly metals. For other types of materials, the first paragraph refers to appropriate references.

The specificities and capacities of elasto-visco-plastic laws are described. Then a description of the particularities of the various types of work hardening is made, which makes it possible to make some recommendations.

Some general tips on identifying the parameters of laws are given.

Viscosity and temperature effects are also discussed. Finally, elements are given to verify the validity of the choices made concerning the behavior and its parameters.
