3. Extrapolation approach#

The approach that we want to put in place in order to extrapolate the results of vibration measurements on a numerical model is divided into 4 steps [bia1]:

This approach is based on the notion of projecting a field into a space with a dimension smaller than the dimension of the space of the numerical model and then extrapolation to the space of the numerical model. Projecting the field into a space of reduced dimensions necessarily leads to a loss of information during extrapolation. We can therefore see here the importance of choosing the projection base. This base may be formed by a modal response and/or a static response. It is assumed here that the numerical model is linear.
