4. Method “ECLA_PG”#
This method is dedicated to the projection of fields at Gauss points (ELGA).
Let’s illustrate this method on a 2D example.
It is assumed that the initial mesh consists of 3 triangles (green) with 3 Gauss points (see figure below).
Each triangle is divided into as many sub-elements as there are Gauss points (here 3). The value carried by the Gauss point is attributed to the entire sub-element.
A mesh of the final mesh (parallelogram) is drawn in light yellow. It has four Gauss points (small orange circles).
The value of the field projected onto each of these four Gauss points will be that of the sub-element in relation to the point. In our example, the top 2 points belong to the same sub-element and they will have the same value at the end of the projection.
