1. 1 Introduction#

When using the WEIBULL model (cf. POST_ELEM [U4.81.22]), studies to model the brittle fracture of steels generally require a prior identification of the parameters of this model. In order to avoid the laborious identification « by hand » of these parameters, which would require iteratively restarting operation POST_ELEM with option WEIBULL, an automatic adjustment procedure has been implemented in*Code_Aster*.

In this document, we briefly recall the equations of the WEIBULL model and then define the identification problem posed. The principle of the two resolution methods used (linear regression and maximum likelihood) is then described by including the case where one of the two parameters of the model depends on temperature.
