Introduction

Here we present a robust but approximate method for solving the incremental problem of nonlinear, quasistatic mechanics for certain damage and plasticity behaviors. It is activated by the keyword METHODE = 'IMPLEX' from the STAT_NON_LINE operator, and substitutes for the classical NEWTON method (cf. [:ref:`2 <2>`]).
